Hi guys!!
During the week I can get really busy, and neglect my health. I try and eat healthy throughout the week, so that I am feeding my body the proper nutrients it needs to keep going, but by the end of the week I need a really good detox! I love dedicating Sunday evenings as my “detox time” to really unwind and destress from the week before, and prepare my self for the week ahead!
Here are some of the things I do!
Rebecca XOXO
1. Green smoothie!
I’m sure there’s a million green smoothie recipes out there, but trust me when I say this ones the best!! It’s full of simple ingredients that are nutrient-dense, and really help with detoxifying your body!
1 ripe banana (frozen or fresh, doesn’t matter)
3 cups spinach
1 cup water or coconut water
1/2 cup unsweetened apple sauce (make sure it’s unsweetened! The sweetened kind has soo much sugar)
1/2 cup plain yogurt (optional if you are DF)
Blend until creamy!
The apple sauce is something I’ve been putting in my smoothies for a little while, but I love that it sweetens it without sugar! Also, the yogurt is optional, but the probiotics in yogurt are amazing for your gut health.
2. Detox tea
My aunty Amy swears by this tea, and it’s pretty strong, but you feel so amazing after you drink it! I love having this tea at night especially when I’m feeling bloated or my skin is acting up. I wake up and I feel so much better and my skin will be glowing!
1 lemon, sliced
1 tbsp fresh ginger
2 cups water
Add the ingredients into a sauce pan, and let simmer for 15-20 minutes. Enjoy!
3. Epsom salt bath
Epsom salts are so amazing to add to your bath! There are a million benefits to having epsom salt baths, and you can read more about them here! A few of my favourites are they help with muscle relaxation and soreness – especially after working out.
4. Kiels Tumeric and Cranberry Seed face mask
This is such an amazing mask for my skin, especially in the winter when my skin is a bit dull. It also helps with any scarring or hyper-pigmentation, plus it doesn’t leave a yellow stain to your skin like most other turmeric masks do.
5. Phone detox
On Sunday nights, after hot yoga while I’m in my Epsom salt bath with my turmeric face mask on and my green smoothie in hand, I will also have a phone detox! Actually, a few of my friends have deleted a majority of their social media accounts for good, with I think is really amazing, but as a blogger that is not something I can really do! I set aside a few hours to just read a book or do my devotions and really talk to God. This is by far the most detoxifying thing!
6. Hot Yoga
This is amaaaaazing for flushing out any waste your body may be holding in. Before hot yoga, I will drink the lemon and ginger tea to detoxify all the bad stuff out of body, and then go to hot yoga to sweat it all out! You sweat so much, and you feel so rejuvenated afterwards!
