Hello Everybody!
Happy February! I am SO excited that Spring and the warm weather is coming upon us and for the sun to come out so I can get a tan!
For the past 3 years, I have spent Valentine’s day in Mexico helping out at an orphanage, so I am always a little sad to miss Valentine’s Day back at home because we usually have formal day at my school. I love getting all dolled up for events, but I think going to Mexico beats any dress up day at school 😉
I hope you all enjoy this easy recipe that you can make with your friends, or for somebody you love. If you do make this recipe – we would love to see pictures on Instagram!
XO
Rebecca
Here is where the original recipe is from: PintSizedTreasures.com
- 1/4 cup butter
- 4 cups marshmallows
- 6 cups Rice Krispies Cereal
- 2 tablespoons pink sprinkles (optional)
For the topping
- 1/4 cup pink Wilton candy melts (use candy melts instead of chocolate, as the melts have a nicer consistency than chocolate)
- 1/4 cup white Wilton candy melts
- 3-5 tablespoons festive sprinkles (I used pink, but you could also use red and white)
- paper straws
Instructions
- Coat a 9×9 pan with oil.
-
Melt butter and marshmallows in microwave for 1 minute. Take out and stir.
-
Put butter and marshmallows back in microwave for 20 seconds, then stirring until smooth. (you may need to microwave mixture for a bit longer, but be super careful; mixture burns easily!)
-
Stir in about 1/2 cup more marshmallows, and optional sprinkles. Adding the extra marshmallows makes the bars extra yummy:)
-
Pour mixture into prepared pan and press evenly. Allow to cool completely before cutting into heart shapes. (I used a heart shaped cookie cutter that I found at Micheal’s craft store)
-
Allow hearts to sit for 20 minutes to cool off before decorating. While squares are setting, melt candy melts according to package.
-
Once the treats have cooled, stick the tip of the straw into the chocolate (so that the straw will stay inside the Rice Krispy heart) and then stick the straw about halfway into the Rice Krispy heart.
-
Dip the corner of the heart in the pink chocolate, making sure to gently scrape off the excess chocolate.
-
Gently sprinkle on some sprinkles with a spoon.
-
Using a fork, drizzle on the white chocolate all over the hearts.
-
Repeat these steps on all the rest of the hearts.Enjoy!!
