Hello guys! Right now I am on an Alaskan cruise so I am skipping school, relaxing and going on a lot of excursions. I miss summer already (though it does feel like summer right now). Almost always when I have bought dry shampoo the sprayer stops working and I am left with an empty pocket and a can full of dry shampoo I cannot use. I decided to click around, find recipes, and create a DIY dry shampoo that can never go wrong. Dry shampoo can be used on second day hair when you don’t want to shower everyday and dry out your hair, just sprinkle a little bit of this stuff in and you’re good to go! This easy recipe has been a life saver for me this summer and I wanted to share it with you <3

You will need:

  • corn starch
  • baking soda
  • essential oils (optional)
  • cocoa powder (brunette)
  • cinnamon (red hair)
  • spice shaker (dollar store)

If you have blonde hair, you will put 1/4 cup of corn starch in a bowl. If you would like a scent, add around 3 drops of your essential oil-keep in mind that your hair will smell like this. You can add 2 tsp of baking soda if you want; this step is optional but it does absorb odour. My hair has some natural brown streaks in it so I added a half a tsp of cocoa powder to make my dry shampoo a little darker.

If you are a brunette, you will follow the blonde haired recipe and add 1 tbsp of cocoa powder at the end.

If you are a red head, follow the blonde haired recipe and add 1 tbsp of cinnamon at the end.

When you are done, you can pour (with a funnel) your dry shampoo into a spice bottle (mine are from the dollar store) or put it in a small bowl and apply with an old makeup brush to your hair where it’s needed. I recommend putting this throughout your roots at night so it has time to soak in.
