DIY Marbled Dishes

I was scrolling through Pinterest (as always)  when I decided since I am obsessed with rings, and I leave mine all over the house and end up looking everywhere for them I might as well make some homes for my accessories!

Supplies:

*set oven to 275°F*

STEP 1: Roll each colour you want to use into a snake about 6″ long.

STEP 2: Twist clay pieces together. You can twist and pull as much as you want until you get the marbled effect you like.

STEP 3: Roll the snake into a ball and keep smooshing it until you have your favourite colour combination on top.

STEP 4: Using a rolling pin, flatten out your ball till it’s about 1/8″ thick.

STEP 5: Next take the medium can/bowl with the same shape you want your dish to be and cut the circle out using an Exacto knife.

STEP 6: Place your circle carefully into an oven-safe bowl that is a bit smaller that your dish so that it will sag in the middle forming more of a dish shape. Bake according to the temperature on your clay package (I did 15 minutes at 275°F). Then remove the bowl from the oven and allow it to cool before turning upide down and gently getting the marbled dish out. You may have to run a paring knife along the edge to loosen it.

STEP 7: Once the clay dish is completely cool, take some paint and using a small brush, paint the rim of your dish. After that is dry feel free to finish it with a glazed seal (I decided not too). And lastly, don’t forget to have fun decorating your room and keeping your nic-nacs in place 😉
